Castroviejo-Epker Caliper Angled 18 cm - 7-1/8˝, 40 mm Range
The Castroviejo-Epker caliper is the long-arm 18 cm pattern built for orthognathic and maxillofacial measurement, with a 40 mm range and angled tips that reach over the lip and cheek to a reference point the straight pattern cannot touch. The thumb screw locks the setting so a surgical caliper reading survives being put down and picked up again mid-case. Bulk discounts apply on multi-piece orders.
Why Surgeons Choose It
- 40 mm range covers the movements recorded in orthognathic planning
- 18 cm arms reach a landmark without the hand blocking the view
- Angled tips sit on a reference point the arms cannot approach straight on
- Locking thumb screw holds the setting between measurements
- Engraved millimetre scale stays readable after repeated autoclaving

Built for Repeated Use
Machined from AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel, hardened at the pivot and the tips so the long arms stay parallel and the scale stays true. The satin finish cuts glare under operating lights, and the engraved graduations will not wear off the way printed scales do. Full autoclave cycles at 134 °C cause no distortion or pitting.
Direct From the Manufacturer
We manufacture this instrument in our own Sialkot workshop and sell straight to surgeons, clinics, hospitals and distributors, so there is no importer margin in the price. Every caliper is checked against a reference gauge before dispatch and carries a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Ask for bulk pricing on multi-piece and full-set orders, and for OEM laser marking on volume quantities.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do I need angled tips instead of straight?
When the reference point cannot be approached in line with the arms, for example over the lip or around the cheek. The straight pattern has its own page.
How is this different from the small Castroviejo caliper?
Scale and reach. The small Castroviejo is 8 to 9 cm for fine marking; the Epker pattern is 18 cm with a 40 mm range for facial skeletal measurement.
Does the setting hold once I let go?
Yes. The thumb screw locks the arms, so you can set a distance, lock it, and transfer the same measurement repeatedly without re-reading the scale.
Will the scale wear off in the autoclave?
No. The graduations are engraved into the steel, not printed, so repeated cycles at 134 °C do not fade them.
Can the tips be re-pointed?
Yes, by a competent instrument workshop, but keep both tips identical in length or the readings shift.
Is it supplied sterile?
No. It ships clean and non-sterile, ready for your own cleaning and autoclave cycle at 134 °C before first use.
