Castroviejo Caliper 8 and 9 cm, 20 and 40 mm Measuring Range

The Castroviejo caliper is the small, precise measuring caliper surgeons reach for when a millimetre decides the result, offered here in 8 cm with a 20 mm range and 9 cm with a 40 mm range. A thumb screw locks the setting so the reading survives being put down and picked up again, which is what separates a working surgical caliper from a ruler. Pick your range from the dropdown. Bulk discounts apply on multi-piece orders.

Why Surgeons Choose It

  • Locking thumb screw holds the setting between measurements
  • Engraved millimetre scale stays readable after repeated autoclaving
  • 20 mm range for ophthalmic and micro work, 40 mm for wider marking
  • Fine tips reach into tight fields without obscuring the mark
  • One-piece arms with a smooth pivot, nothing to loosen in use

Built for Repeated Use

Machined from AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel, hardened at the pivot and the tips so the arms stay parallel and the scale stays true. The satin finish cuts glare under operating lights, and the engraved graduations will not wear off the way printed scales do. Full autoclave cycles at 134 °C cause no distortion or pitting.

Direct From the Manufacturer

We manufacture this instrument in our own Sialkot workshop and sell straight to surgeons, clinics, hospitals and distributors, so there is no importer margin in the price. Every caliper is checked against a reference gauge before dispatch and carries a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Ask for bulk pricing on multi-piece and full-set orders, and for OEM laser marking on volume quantities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which measuring range do I need?
20 mm covers ophthalmic, eyelid and micro work where the measurements are small. 40 mm suits wider facial and plastic surgery marking. Many surgeons keep both.

Does the setting hold once I let go?
Yes. The thumb screw locks the arms, so you can set a distance, lock it, and transfer the same measurement repeatedly without re-reading the scale.

Will the scale wear off in the autoclave?
No. The graduations are engraved into the steel, not printed, so repeated cycles at 134 °C do not fade them.

Can the tips be re-pointed?
Yes, by a competent instrument workshop, but keep both tips identical in length or the readings shift. Most users never need this.

Is it the same instrument as the Castroviejo-Epker caliper?
No. The Epker pattern is an 18 cm angled or straight caliper for deeper facial measurement and has its own pages.

Is it supplied sterile?
No. It ships clean and non-sterile, ready for your own cleaning and autoclave cycle at 134 °C before first use.
