Which length should I choose?
7 cm for superficial vessels and facial work; 12 cm where the pedicle sits deeper and the arc has to start further back. Many users keep both.
How is it different from an ordinary suture needle?
It is a carrier, not a stitching needle. The tip is blunt and the eye sits near the point, so it passes a tie around a structure instead of through tissue.
Will it tear the vessel it passes behind?
Not if used as intended. The leading profile is rounded so it separates tissue; it is not sharpened to pierce.
Can I use any suture thickness?
The closed eye takes the usual ligature calibres. Very heavy braid may need the 12 cm pattern, which has the larger eye.
