Walter Osteotome-Chisel Concave Edge 3 and 5 mm, 19 cm - 7-1/2˝

The Walter concave edge osteotome-chisel has a hollow-ground cutting edge that wraps the bone instead of sitting flat on it, supplied in 3 mm and 5 mm on a 19 cm shaft. In rhinoplasty and nasal bone work the concave edge grips a rounded surface and keeps the blade from skating sideways, which is exactly what a flat nasal bone chisel struggles with on a convex dorsum. Pick your width from the dropdown. Bulk discounts apply on multi-piece orders.

Why Surgeons Choose It

  • Hollow-ground edge seats on rounded bone instead of sliding off it
  • 3 mm and 5 mm cover the widths used in nasal and facial bone work
  • Concave profile keeps the cut centred under the blade
  • Flattened octagonal grip stops the blade rolling through the strike
  • One-piece forged body transmits mallet force without flex

Built for Repeated Use

Forged and ground from AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel, hardened so the hollow-ground edge holds its profile through repeated mallet work. The satin finish resists staining and cuts glare under operating lights, and the one-piece body has no joint to loosen or trap debris. Full autoclave cycles at 134 °C cause no distortion or pitting.

Direct From the Manufacturer

We manufacture this instrument in our own Sialkot workshop and sell straight to surgeons, clinics, hospitals and distributors, so there is no importer margin in the price. Frequently Asked Questions

What does the concave edge do?
It wraps a rounded bone surface so the blade seats instead of skating sideways. On a convex nasal dorsum that is the difference between a controlled cut and a slipped one.

Which width should I choose?
3 mm for fine, confined cuts; 5 mm where you want to carry the cut further in a pass. Surgeons doing regular nasal bone work usually keep both.

How does it differ from the notched edge version?
The concave edge is a continuous hollow curve. The notched edge has a V cut into it so it can straddle a bony spine or septal crest rather than cut across it.

Can the edge be resharpened?
Yes, by a competent instrument workshop, but it must be reground to the original concave profile. A flat regrind turns it into an ordinary chisel.

Do you supply both widths as a set?
Yes. Pick each width from the dropdown and tell us it is a set order; bulk discounts apply on multi-piece and full-set quantities.

Is it supplied sterile?
No. It ships clean and non-sterile, ready for your own cleaning and autoclave cycle at 134 °C before first use.
