Shepard Cylinder Osteotome-Chisel Ø 5 to 8 mm, 12.5 cm - 5˝

The Shepard cylinder osteotome-chisel is a hollow bone graft harvesting cylinder for oral and maxillofacial work, supplied in Ø 5, 6 and 8 mm on a 12.5 cm shaft. Driven with the matching Shepard ram, it cuts a clean cylindrical core of cortical or cortico-cancellous bone that lifts out intact and ready to place. Pick your diameter from the dropdown. Bulk discounts apply on multi-piece and full-set orders.

Why Surgeons Choose It

  • Hollow cutting edge takes an intact bone core instead of chips
  • Ø 5, 6 and 8 mm cover the usual graft and implant-site diameters
  • Hex drive head seats the ram squarely so force stays on axis
  • Cross pin hole lets you turn the cylinder free after the cut
  • 12.5 cm shaft keeps the working end short and controllable

Built for Repeated Use

Machined from a single bar of AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel, hardened and ground so the circular cutting edge stays true through repeated harvests. The satin finish resists staining and glare under operating lights, and the one-piece body has no joints or seams to trap debris. Full autoclave cycles at 134 °C cause no distortion or pitting.

Direct From the Manufacturer

We manufacture this instrument in our own Sialkot workshop and sell straight to surgeons, clinics, hospitals and distributors, so there is no importer margin in the price. Every piece is inspected and test-cut before dispatch and carries a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Ask for bulk pricing on multi-piece and full-set orders, and for OEM laser marking on volume quantities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which diameter should I choose?
Ø 5 and 6 mm suit small block and dowel grafts and implant site preparation; Ø 8 mm is used where a larger core is needed. Surgeons who graft regularly usually keep all three.

Do I need the Shepard ram as well?
Yes for most cases. The cylinder is driven into bone with the ram, which strikes the hex head squarely and keeps the cut on axis. The cross pin is then used to turn and free the core.

Is the bone core removable in one piece?
That is the point of the design. The hollow ground edge cuts a complete cylinder rather than chips, so the graft comes out intact and keeps its cortical structure.

What steel is used?
AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel, hardened and ground. It holds a circular cutting edge well and tolerates repeated autoclaving without pitting.

Do you supply the three sizes as a set?
Yes. Order all three from the dropdown and tell us it is a set order; bulk discounts apply on multi-piece and full-set quantities.

Is it supplied sterile?
No. It ships clean and non-sterile, ready for your own cleaning and autoclave cycle at 134 °C before first use.
