Biggs Mammaplasty Retractors, with Fiber Optic Light

Overhead theater lights throw shadows the moment a surgeon's own hands and instruments occupy the space above an incision—and in deep submuscular dissection, that's most of the procedure. The Biggs Mammaplasty Retractor solves this problem by building a fiber optic light channel directly into the blade, bringing illumination straight into the breast pocket instead of relying on light from above.

Light Where the Shadow Would Be

Overhead lighting can't reach the base of a deep pocket once the surgeon's body and instruments block the direct line of sight. Routing light down the retractor blade itself keeps the pocket floor visible no matter how the hands are positioned.

Curved to Match Breast Tissue

The blade follows the natural curve of breast tissue instead of pressing flat against it, so retraction pressure spreads evenly across the pocket wall rather than concentrating at a single edge—a smoother, more consistent dissection plane as a result.

Augmentation or Reduction, Same Need

Implant pocket creation during augmentation, tissue resection, and repositioning during reduction—different goals, but the same underlying requirement: a surgeon who can actually see what they're cutting or repositioning.

Fits Standard Light Source Equipment

The fiber optic connection is built to standard specifications, so it works with light source units most practices already own instead of demanding a proprietary illumination system.

Instruments to Pair With This Retractor

Round out a tray by browsing the breast surgery instrument range for additional exposure tools. When a breast surgery tray also needs a handheld option for shallower flap work, the Anderson Bear Claw Retractor is worth adding alongside it.
